PHCC Update

Prairie Heighters,

What a life-changing journey we will wrap up this week.  What would life look like if we assumed we only had 40 days to live?  Would we speak sweeter, love deeper, offer and ask for forgiveness, and embrace eternity?  I think we all would!

For many, death is an uncomfortable topic.  “We think that we are in the land of the living going to the land of the dying when in reality for those who are prepared for eternity, we are actually in the land of the dying going to the land of the living!”

Jesus told a story, to illustrate a powerful point, about an ultra-successful business man (Luke 12:13-21) and Jesus concluded “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”  This business guy in the story Jesus told made 2 crucial mistakes; #1 He lived like this life was all there was and #2 He lived like he would always have more time here on earth.  These 2 mistakes led him to the most foolish of outcomes: he was UNPREPARED for eternity!

We prepare for eternity the same way we build healthy relationships with each other – by building a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.  Jesus came to replace religion with relationship. We must A, Admit our need is to ask God for forgiveness and by grace receive the gift of eternal life in Jesus, B, Believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and C, Commit to following His leadership in our lives.

“If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (1 John 1:6-7)

When we receive Christ as our Savior it is the beginning of the most adventurous and abundant journey a human heart could ever join!  Is it easy? No, it often is not.  Is it rewarding? Yes, always, especially long-term and for those we love!  Will God provide the people and the support around us? Yes, in ways we could never imagine.

Next week as a follow-up to our Live Like You Were Dying series I am going to talk about an important spiritual growth step of Believer Baptism!  Look out world…God is preparing Prairie Heights to host the largest baptism party in the history of North Dakota on April 1st, our 11th birthday party!  It will be a day you will NOT want to miss…that is all I am saying friends!

Have a very blessed week.  Prairie Heighters, I love you, and am so thankful for each one of you more than I can describe!

Jon Hauser
