June 20 Parent Connection

Happy Father’s Day! I hope all of you Father’s had a blessed weekend and were able to spend some time with your family. I want you to know that father’s are important at Prairie Heights and in the lives of your families. I pray that this year you are reminded of the opportunity you have to invest in the lives of your family members as a Father. Take advantage of every opportunity you get to spend time and encourage the faith journey of your children and spouse.

This week in “To The Depths” the elementary kids (5years-5th grade) learned that we should honor God by giving our best to others and to Him. Luke 21:1-4 and Mark 12:41-44 show us how a widow’s small offering represented her best. While she was poor, she gave everything she had, two small coins, to God. She brought God her best, not just her leftovers. In our lives its the same way. God wants us to offer others and Him our best efforts, time, and attention to show others that we care about them. I want to challenge us all to take a look at our lives and ask, “Am I giving my best to my family, to God, and to others?”

The preschool class (3-4years) is taking a break from our regular curriculum and having some special guests, guest teachers, and new activities during the months of June and July. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to be a part of what’s going on this summer in preschool!

Elementary Family Devotional (5 years to 5th grade)

During the last 7 weeks in “To the Depths” we have been on an underwater adventure! We ONLY have 1 week left to dive deep into the book of James to discover how God wants us to live. I encourage families to take some time to read through the book of James this week. It’s a short book of the bible, you can even read it online. Please e-mail me and let me know how God uses it to strengthen your family, I would love to hear about it!

Prairie Heights has a paid 25 hrs per week ministry position open in our Next Generation/Kidventure department. The position includes Sunday hours but there is flexibility in the Monday through Thursday hours.  We are looking for someone who loves helping others succeed, loves seeing the local church fulfill the Great Commission no matter the cost, loves details, and loves working with people.  We are looking for the person God is “calling” for this ministry position.  Please pray with me for this position.  It is critically important we fill this position prior to fall.  Our staff has a BLAST working together.  We laugh a lot.  We sometimes cry, in joy, as we see lives God is changing (including ours!).  We work hard and the time flies.  Our biggest challenge is getting our staff not to work more than they should!  We have had some very good people express interest and apply for the position but have just not quite found the right fit.  All of our staff positions have some unique intangibles, based on our existing staff, that can’t be described on paper.  I attached a ministry description.  Email makeadifferenceatprairieheightsdotcom  (makeadifferenceatprairieheightsdotcom)   if you are interested.

Have a great week!
