Looking for ways to help you grow in your faith?  Or Bible verses to think about and maybe memorize and don’t know where to start?  Every Sunday at Prairie Heights, in the worship folder, will be a business card that has the theme verse for the day.  Take some time to read the verse, open your Bible and read the verses around that scripture.  Share the verse with others and talk about what it means to you!

Sunday was our last week in the Exponential series.  Pastor Steve gave us some great insights on how to live a Giving Life!  The memory verse for this week comes from 2 Corinthians 9:7, “You must each  make up your mind as to how much you should give.  Don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure.  For God loves the person who gives cheerfully.”

Another outstanding day at PHCC! Extravagant giving makes for exponential living! We had several “firsts” at Prairie Heights!  We heard Pastor Steve share his first message.  He shared a powerful life-changing truth from God’s Word, how God used a lad (2nd grader) who gave his 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread to Jesus to feed the crowd.  Why should we give extravagantly?  Because Jesus has called us to worship through our giving!  Over 100 people responded in how God was leading them in the area of giving.

SERMON FREE SUNDAY is this Sunday, February 5th!  Come experience the premiere Pre-Super Bowl Celebration in Fargo-Moorhead!  Invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers.  Anyone you have been wanting to invite!  The wall will be open!  1,200 people between both services, that would be amazing!   Lots of ’rocking’ music and people sharing some incredible stories of how God has touched their lives.  After service, sit down with those you invited and have taco-in-a-bag together!

Way to go Prairie Heighters!  Thank you for thinking and praying about what God would have you give for the Christmas Offering!  As of 1/24/12 our Christmas Offering total is $46,051.68.  This is amazing!  We are currently taking steps to prepare us for Opening the Wall to serve 500 more people on Sunday mornings.  We will also be using these funds to help families with care and counseling needs.

On Sunday, February 12th, we will be celebrating all God is doing through each of you!  We have been asking Prairie Heighters to bake cupcakes and bring them that Sunday.   There will be 1,000 cupcakes to choose from; different flavors, different frostings.   After each service, stop in the lobby and introduce yourself to someone you haven’t met before!

On Sunday our kids learned that we can worship God by serving Him and helping others. They took a look at the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) and how she helped out a hurting, lonely man alongside the road.

At Prairie Heights we have young adults, couples, parents, and single adults who model a life of worship through service to our kids EVERY Sunday! They truly have a passion for seeing kids grow in their faith. 1 Peter 4:10 tells us “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”  Spend time thinking as a family how you can serve others around you this week. We can never underestimate the power serving has in the lives of people and in our own lives.

We have been talking a lot about relationships and life groups lately… if you have not had a chance to sign up for a life group, guess what? You’re not alone! There are others who have not signed up either. I want to share with you that our Live Like You Were Dying series is going to change your life. It might change your career, change your attitude, change your finances, change your relationships with others, change your marriage. I’m not sure what God will change in you, but I do know one thing for sure. We are all entering this time together and none of us will come out of the 6 weeks the same. You’re not alone!

Last week we talked about relationships.  We learned that there are two types of relationships; the vertical or up and down relationship between us and God and the horizontal or side to side relationship between us and everyone else in our lives.  It is important for us to first make sure our relationship with God is good and then we will be able to have healthy and loving relationships with others.

Our memory verse last week was 1 John 3:18: “Dear Children, let us stop saying we love each other ; let us really show it by our actions.”  I pray that we have all been challenged this week and the rest of our lives to put our faith and love for God into action! We will continue to be learning more verses this year so that we can have daily reminders of God’s presence in our lives.

Join us this week as we dig deeper into Sunday’s sermon through sweet games, fun icebreakers and engaging small group time!
